For many years, US Kids golf has been the market leader worldwide in junior golf equipment, their products are well designed, sensibly prices and distributed worldwide. US Kids golf dominance of the junior golf equipment has not been seriously tested though competition on the market are equally well designed with a good distribution networks. That is now changing, not because of something the competition is doing right or something US Kids golf has done wrong but because of the current economic climate.

Over the last 18 months or so, the British pound sterling has lost about 30% of its value against the USD,  this has made imported junior golf equipment like the US Kids much more expensive, this is making consumers and distributors look at alternatives.

One such alternate is home grown junior golf equipment range from Meridian golf. Formed in 1996 in Sussex, England, Meridian golf has quickly become the market leading supplier of customised junior golf equipment. Following lengthy R&D with the help of the Wolfson School of Engineering at Loughborough University, it was evident there was gap in the equipment market for bespoke junior golf products.

Many of the products on the market  including junior golf bags , golf sets , Drivers where not suitable for their target audience – so it was armed with this knowledge that the Meridian range was born.   Meridian were the first company to produce stainless steels club heads for juniors, use graduated head weights, eight different shaft construction bases and three different size grips all accordingly to age.

The old industry ‘one size fits all’ mentality was blown away over night. While our competitors were producing alloy drivers we were producing stainless steel for juniors. We were first to introduce much-coveted technology used in adult clubs to the junior game. Meridian are the only junior equipment manufacturer to use eight different shaft constructions with flexes and torques differing according to age. using three different size grips for continuity of feel for growing hands.

Meridian offer the most comprehensive range equipment in junior golf with a variety of lofts All shafts and grips are custom matched accordingly to age. 280cc drivers maximise distance for junior golfers.
Matching headcovers as standard. Golf Bags Meridian offers the ultimate bespoke junior golf bags. Manufactured from 600 denier nylon for strength and durability along with ripstock
colour material for added strength and style. All bags incorporate a twin shoulder strap and alloy stand, rain hood and multiple pockets.

Adventure is the spice of life and actually experiencing it live while camping is where the pleasure actually lies. It is very important that a person takes out time from his or her busy schedule and plan a holiday out with their family or go for camping which is a different fun altogether. It is a mixture of team work, excitement, thrill, physical activity, fun, unique experience and most of all it leads to you getting to know your family better as well as bond with them more strongly.

Camping equipments in this regard plays a very important role and one has to understand the difference between the good and the bad equipments basically before going in for purchasing few. Good equipments are the one which are durable and can resist the force of nature. However, the bad equipments which are available at a very low cost can last for only one camping tour and might even put you in trouble in the first tour itself with it.

There are many options available over the internet as well as various camping stores all over which are very useful for selecting the right equipment. However, it is very necessary to take the products which have been tried and tested time over and have proved to be the camper’s first choice. These camping equipments might be a bit more expensive than others but are surely worth it provided the kind of service it provides for a long time.

Deciding which are the camping equipments which would be required on the tour that you go also depends upon the location and terrain which you choose to camp on. If the location is situated in the cold or cool climate, you might want to take the extra heavy blankets which are other wise not required. There are many other essential types of camping equipment which can make your camping tour successful if the tour has been pre planned and one has loaded all the necessary requisites.

It is also very necessary that the camping equipments are taken care of properly after the use during the tour as well as after because these camping equipments are more often than not a bit expensive. After chucking out good amount of money you will naturally not want to go for another shopping tour for next camping season.

Few of the very essential camping equipments are tents and awnings, stoves and lanterns, airbeds and pumps, picnic sets, military clothing, sleeping bags, cool boxes, playing accessories like basketball, portable system for playing basket ball, coolers – fridges, table, chairs and kitchen necessary equipments. It is very necessary that one takes note of each and every item while deciding which would be necessary for the camp and make sure that they are available while on camp. This is because lack of any one of the essential tour can spoil the fun as well as mood.

Good amount of food should be carried as well so that no problems are caused when butterflies are making rounds in the stomach. Plenty of water which can be kept cool in coolers and fridges are very helpful after trekking. Lighter and emergency light is also necessary in case of any emergency and the tent which should be taken along must be waterproof so at to provide good night sleep even while its raining outside.

Camping tour is gaining popularity among people all over and one of the major reasons behind this is adventure as we all know but one of the other reasons is to even be far away from the pollution and be close to nature. Trekking is very common while camping and it is very essential therefore to keep multi tools and first aid kits handy with you. In case you want to cook few of the wild delicacies for your loved ones, you might consider carrying cooking equipment along with yourself to make sure everything goes well in your quest to be the proud chef.

If you are going on camping with a group of people or may be even just a few participants other than family, you might consider availing marquees and other setting tools and gazebos to make sure the party never faces any problems. Entertainment gadgets like radio and stereo are other very necessary tools to be carried while on camping as it keeps you from getting bored and books are also very helpful in this case. Insect repellent can be of good help as well because forest and wild places mostly chosen for camping have a bunch of insect species which are very irritating and harmful as well.

Thus, if you want to go for camping and want to make sure that you have a very delightful and pleasant experience, make sure you plan your camping tour well and be geared with all the necessary camping equipments.

Yurt Building by leading Yurt Builders The Round House

October 19th, 2007

Perhaps you have wondered about yurts, or considered one for camping holidays.  A yurt offers a comfortable and rather luxurious portable home away from home. Yurts are collapsible, easily transported wooden lattice frames covered with felt, in the traditional version, or a waterproof canvas outer well suited to life in the UK. When choosing a yurt, look for high quality construction and craftsmanship. The yurts built by the round house yurt builders are beautifully made, easily moved and set up, and aesthetically beautiful.

What are the benefits to a yurt? A yurt up to 18 feet can be transported in many cars with a roof rack. Two adults can put the yurt up in only two hours, making it as practical as it is comfortable. You may also want to allow space for a wood stove, which will vent out the roof of your yurt. A wood stove will make your yurt a viable year round option. A well made and well cared for yurt will provide you with a home that can go where you do for many years to come.

The Roundhouse offers yurts built of high quality, sustainably farmed green ash. Doors are pine or oak, and the wood is finished with organic oils. Each yurt comes with a custom made white, sand or sage green canvas cover. Sage or sand may also be used for the roof star, adding a nice accent to the airy white canvas exterior. The canvas has been specially treated to be rot-proof, waterproof and fire-retardant. While a heavy duty PVC ground cover is included, you can also purchase a custom fit jute or sisal rug for your yurt. The Roundhouse offers doors in a variety of styles, ranging from a simple rectangle to options with stained glass inserts.

For a warm and elegant temporary structure, consider opting for a yurt from the round house. These yurts offer traditionally curved roof ribs, a crisp and fresh white canvas exterior, and a variety of options to meet your needs. If you intend to use your yurt year-round, consider adding a wood burning stove for heat and cooking.  A yurt can be an excellent and comfortable home that offers easy portability, luxury and comfort. Especially ideal for those who travel regularly, such as craftspeople, or even a good solution for a summer home in the country, a yurt is eco-friendly, attractive, and long-lasting. Choose a yurt constructed by a skilled artisan, and you will be comfortable for many years to come.

Steam Bending for Yurt Making

September 22nd, 2007

Yurt, tent-like structures popular with in many parts of the world including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakh  and with the Native American Indians is becoming quite popular and fashionable in UK recently.
Yurts and its not too distant cousin Tipis are used for various purposes ranging from storytelling venue to outbuilding.

Describing Yurt building in simplistic form, its is made from wood and covering usually tarpaulin and sometime felts. The wooding part of Yurt making is one of the most fascinating parts. Different kinds of woods can be used, ash wood is quite popular with Yurt makers.

Ash wood is steam bend by placing prepared ash into steam box which is attached to a drum of boiling water. The wood is left in for an hour per inch of thickness of timber.
When the timber is ready, it is removed and placed onto a former upon which it sets into the shape required.

For wood to bend, it has to reach 100 C at which point the lignum in the wood becomes pliable – steaming is the best medium to achieve this and in doing so also forces out the natural sugars and once removed from the steam leaves the timber effectively seasoned.
